Macro photographs_03

For a long time I have been looking at an external flash for my Canon EOS camera, in order to take sharper macro images. I like to experiment and have been very fascinated by other photo artist's pictures of, among other things, drops. I have especially been impressed by those who have different colors in their pictures and have wondered how they were created.

After long-term studies of other people's pictures and blogs, I found that many people use ipads as a background to get colors in their pictures. I've tried that and it can be used, for example, to create reflections in drops. But it is still with this tool, hard to create effects with light and shadow.

But hurry to the Internet ... just what I needed to work with light and shadow and colors the way I could imagine was a twin light flash. ( and color filters). But …such an original for Canon is pretty much more expensive than I have the opportunity to spend.

So, I really had abandoned. But then .. suddenly one day, I dropped over some reviews on a twin light flash from Yongnuo., and to 1/10 of the price for the Canon tool. This twin light flash has got pretty good reviews, also from professional photographers .... so there was not a long report about this. This flash was for my wallet and I ordered one in England via Amazon. Just  a week later it was at my house.

I have experimented a bit with oil and water and here you can see my very first pictures with my new toy 🙂

Photoshop fun_Blended photographs

To use my photos and mix them with tools in Photoshop, I think that's a lot of fun. There is still a play of colors and compositions, and through the courses, I follow on You-tube and CG cookie, I've come across many more possibilities and shortcuts in photoshop.

The previous picture in this post is made solely with my photographs. A night sky, and two macro images of flowers. You can not guess, what I think is very funny. I use a lot to change the light set and mixes of different layers.

For the next picture, I have used a free-to-use view of some mountains and northern light, combined with my photographs of macro drops.

Digital Painting_03-Landscapes and an stalactite cave

Hundreds of Youtube videos (ok-maybe a bit exaggerated) but at least I've seen some videos about concept art and matte paintings.

I have also followed CG cookies learning flow compared to digital painting. And I am learning even more about colors and compositions. An inexhaustible world filled with learning.

I'm definitely not very good at drawing, as can be seen in my first tedious self-creations in a combination of matte painting and just painting.

But instead of blaming my poor skills or lack of talent, it's about time to find the energy to take the sketch block and practice and practice and practice.

Digital painting _02, Vegetation

Wow, I love this one!

I work through different tutorials step by step to improve my skills in digital painting.
I learn so much of this matte painting.

I use my photographs as inspiration for painting textures. Once again opened the eyes for especially light and shadows, color shades, lines in the landscape and composition at all.

I was not aware that there were so many options and tools in Photoshop. And I'm still only able to use a fraction. I also learn a lot of shortcuts, although I can not make them all work on my Mac Book Pro. Where do I find for example the square braces on my keyboard? I have googled and googled - but without seeing a response that has got the shortcut to work.

Well, but the joy of sitting and painting and learning new, completely overcomes this little frustration. My first landscape paint ever, in photoshop, you see above

Digital Painting..Rocks

I have experimented with Photoshop quite a bit in the last couple of years. Can find out how to adjust colors and contrasts and have used a bit of blending of my pictures.

Just before Christmas, I wanted to work a little more with Photoshop, and improve my knowledge and ability. I have always had a desire to combine my interest in photography and painting. I have thousands of pictures, paintings a little less 🙂
When I've been to celebrations or trips on nature, I've always taken a lot of images of textures for later use. For the production of my textures for Blender buildings, and also to get inspiration to produce my surfaces in Photoshop.

In my search for inspiration around the web, I dropped over the concept of Matte painting. It is digital painting combined with the insertion of photographs, or rather parts of pictures. You use textures and colors from the images and blend them into their composition. And mix it with digital painting. It is a method widely used in the production of concept art for movies and games.

But it's not just jumping over Matte-painting. To get well, you need to acquire necessary skills in digital painting. Basic knowledge about colors, compositions, light, and shadow are the same as for photography and different visual art, e.g., oil or acrylic painting. The big challenge is to use Photoshop and brushes to get the special effects you want. Mainly to learn some of the numerous possibilities, brushes, shortcuts, color mixes in Photoshop, can be a considerable challenge. There are many excellent and many terrible videos on YouTube to help you through the basic stuff and technique.

I've watched some videos I found usable and become tempted to try to paint rocks of different kinds.
So this Sunday afternoon I have practiced to draw and paint rocks. Here you can see today's results.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year

So is another year to end.
Seen in the signs of creativity, how has it gone?
I have done a little, photographed in RL, did shot in Sl, built 3d models in Blender, followed lessons in SL by Graham and Rottie, started following lessons in CC cookie, and lately  I have worked a little more in photoshop. You can see the result on this page. So little I have made, but not as much as I wish.

My professional life (and I'm grateful that I have one) takes a lot of my time and energy. Also sometimes too much. That means that I can´t spend so much time on my hobbies that I can become really good. But I use my pursuits to shut down for the busy day, and I'm sure that because I have these interests and challenges, it helps to ensure I'm not affected by stress. All worries are forgotten when I work with images or 3D.
The goal for 2018? Hmmm .. just having the opportunity to work on the things I'm doing, get even better by using Blender and photoshop. Be even better to take excellent photographs. Maybe still try to combine it with Sl or perhaps find other virtual platforms

In any case, thanks to those who have been by my website and I wish  all of you  a Happy New Year

3D-build of november

Few hours in the late evenings I participate in two contest by Little Blue and Dreams.
We have to build our interpretations of "My Winter retreat", and "Home for holidays".

I have created my retreat as an ice hotel from North, and my home for holidays - I wanted to make different from most - so it is a home for fish and mermaids 🙂

Dandelions- and drops

Then suddenly it is autumn - with clear blue skies and sunshine .... and sometimes  windy weather, clouds and dark mornings.

I still try to be outside as much as possible, as it is especially there, I can gather energy for the dark of the coming winter.

Rainy weather does not have to be bad weather. Rainy rain, or just after a rainforest, it's perfect for hunting drops and finding new worlds in the macro universe.

I had for a long time planned I would learn to photograph drops in dandelions .. but thought I had to wait for next year.

But the other day, when I was just going on a quick little walk, there were four dandelions. , Back after the camera, then hours went on to photograph dandelions and drops from many different angles. Here are a few examples ... more coming over time.

Macro photographs

Then the summer break is over. It´s a typical day again, and it's time to partly work, partly to soften life with a little creativity.
It's been a long time since I've had a chance to photograph, so I took both my DSLR camera and my iPhone camera with me on vacation. I did not get photographed as much as I wish, but a few shots were made.
Flowers have always fascinated me, so here are some macro pictures of some of the flowers I saw on vacation.

Chapels and castles

Build off world ... I love the group .. or rather the people who keep this group alive: Graham, Rottin, Meg, Logi ... and all the beautiful, creative people who occasionally join a competition. At present, it is Rottin who begins a contest by holding a presentation about an architectural age. We have learned about the Renaissance style of building in Florence, and in this regard, we should build a chapel in Renaissance style.
My build is above.

I won a prize for the best interior:
Her you can see how I did it:
